Email templates

Email templates are used to send automated messages.

Thanks to the email templates you can inform your customers about the status of their orders.

How to create an email template

Start by going to Settings > Notifications > Add template.


How to connect your email template with an action

Here you can select the email that should be sent to your customer.

You can connect an email template with the following actions: 

1. Update order status – Learn more about statuses. For example, when you change the status to ready for dispatch, then the customer receives the message “Your order is waiting to be picked up by the courier”

2. Order confirmation – You can send a message confirming the order. This way your customer will know that the order was submitted correctly.

3. Abandoned cart – If the customer initiates the order process but fails to complete it, you have the opportunity to send that customer a message: ‘Oops… something went wrong, click here, go back to your order and make a payment’.

4. Order cancellation –  You can inform the customer after you’ve cancelled the order manually in the orders panel.

5. Order payment confirmation – The customer will receive a notification after the order status has changed to ‘Paid’.

6. Refund confirmation – If you have processed a refund to your customer, you can send them an email to confirm this.

7. User registration – The customer will receive a confirmation once they register an account on your store.

One email template can be linked to more than one action. In this way, if it fits into two situations, you don’t have to duplicate the email.


Variables in templates

In the email templates, you can use multiple variables, depending on which action they will be assigned to. Please note that in order to use the following variables in a template, they must be enclosed in brackets: “{” i “}”, e.g. {shop_name}.

Email templates can be linked to up to five of these actions:

Variables available when an order status changes

An email template can be linked to specific order status. When you change the status of a particular order, the email assigned to it will be automatically be sent to the customer.

This email will be sent when, at the time of placing an order, the customer selects a specific payment method.

Variables available for an abandoned cart

This email will be sent to customers who added products to their cart, provided their email address, but for some reason did not complete the purchase process. It can be configured to be sent 6 or 24 hours after the cart is abandoned.

Emails can be connected to an order cancellation. When the order is cancelled, the assigned email template will be sent to the customer.

Variables available upon confirmation of payment

A message can be assigned to the payment confirmation action. It will be sent to the customer when they pay for the order online (this action will not work if the customer makes a regular transfer to your store’s bank account).
